The Sands family moved from Dallas, Texas, to open Pet Supplies "Plus", a Michigan-based pet specialty retail franchise, in December 1999. It is the largest franchised chain in its industry.

Our "pets welcome" policy is fun. We have seen monkeys, pot-bellied pigs, hedgehogs, ferrets, prairie dogs, iguanas, parrots (not to mention dogs and cats) come through our doors here at Pet Supplies "Plus" over the past eight years.

People today treat their pets like family members. They want to take them places and involve them in daily activities. Pet Supplies "Plus" is one errand for which you don't have to leave your pet in the car.

Our goal has always been to provide our customers with courteous, pet-friendly service, competitive prices and complete product selection. Our emphasis is to offer a higher level of personalized service than some of our larger competitors. The Sands family expanded in 2005 and opened a second Pet Supplies "Plus" store in Raleigh.

Since the recent dog and cat food recall, we are seeing a greater interest in the natural category because people are more concerned about the health of their pets today. We are continuing to expand our natural food section to satisfy the needs of our customers.

Pet Supplies "Plus" holds monthly adoptions by local animal rescue organizations that are looking to place dogs and/or cats in good homes. We continue with our own in-store kitten adoption program and try to place rescued kittens looking for homes. The store works closely with Wayne County Humane Society and hosts the organization's annual "Dog Wash" and "Photos with Santa" fundraisers.

If you are looking for manners for your new puppy, our store holds a "Puppy Kindergarten" class several times a year that is conducted by a local dog trainer. We also offer pet photographers that specialize in photography of your special family member several times throughout the year.

So if your dog, cat or iguana is the prince or princess in your home, come on down to Pet Supplies "Plus".

We understand.
