Goldsboro police investigate double homicide

Circumstances surrounding the deaths or suspected motive of the shootings have not been released by police.

No arrests have been made in the case.

On Saturday at 4:32 p.m., Goldsboro police responded to a welfare check within the 400 block of Fussell Street, said LaToya Henry, Goldsboro public information officer.

When officers arrived at the home at 401 Fussell St., they found a man, Jamelle Monque Best, 53, of Vanderbilt Circle, and woman, Elainna Michelle Ebersole, 44, of Grove Drive, suffering from gunshot wounds, according to the Goldsboro Police incident report.

Emergency Medical Services personnel arrived and pronounced Best and Ebersole dead at the scene, Henry said.

The Goldsboro Police Department Investigative Services Bureau and the Crime Scene Unit also responded to the scene.

The homicides are the second and third in Goldsboro this year.

On Jan. 13, a 17-year-old male was shot to death within the 900 block of North Madison Avenue near Royall Avenue.

When police arrived at the scene, the found the 17-year-old wounded and sent him to UNC Health Wayne for treatment.

The teenager was pronounced dead at the hospital.

No arrest has been made in the case.
