CALYPSO — North Duplin defeated Rosewood 9-0 to win its fourth regular-season conference title in a row.
During Tuesday night’s game, the Rebels scored their first run of the game in the bottom of the second inning, Lilly Fulghum, who also started inside the circle drew a walk and advanced to third off an Ady Spence single.
Fulghum then scored off a scored off a fielder’s choice.
The Rebels added to their lead by scoring five runs to go up 6-0 in the third inning. Rosewood attempted to come back but could not cut into the Rebels’ lead.
Fulghum hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the fourth inning to make the score 9-0. She finished the game 2-for-2 from plate with three RBIs and one home run.
Fulghum also tossed eight strikeouts in a two-hit complete game.
Sara Thomas Tucker ended the game with two RBIs and a double, while Spence and Marissa Bernal ended the game with one RBI apiece.
With the win, North Duplin is now 12-1 overall and 7-0 in Carolina 1A Conference play, while Rosewood fell to 14-3 overall and 6-2 in conference play.
North Duplin wrap up the regular season by traveling to Hobbton (2-14, 2-5) on Thursday, while Rosewood heads to Lakewood (1-14, 0-7).
